Sometimes it’s hard to talk to family or friends as they are emotionally involved. You may not want to burden them, or you feel you are not being understood. Counselling is different because the therapist is a trained professional who will listen to you respectfully, non-judgementally and in confidence.

Counsellors do not give advice, but empower the individual to search for their own solutions, with the aid of another’s perspective.

Counselling can help with problems such as anger management, relationship issues, abuse, bereavement, anxiety, depression, obsessive compulsive disorder, low self-esteem, child related issues, stress, bullying, work-related issues and personal development.

Every individual is different and therefore some problems can be helped in a few sessions - others over a period of months. The first appointment is an assessment where the issues or problems being experienced are discussed along with what the client would like to get from counselling and how the therapist can help them achieve those goals.
